Satinka Facelift

Okay, this is something really minor, but it has bothered me for some time. Near the bottom of the Forum page, there was a Photoshop drawing of the Dacianos assassin, Satinka, the hostess of the Forum section:

The title of the image is rephd.gif, since originally I called the character "The Reptile." It was one of the first drawings that I did for the site, drawn with the mouse(as was everything else back then, since I didn't have a drawing tablet yet). It looks terrible, so I decided to give it a little treatment.

I started out by just tracing over the original image, making refinements here and there.I gave her collar a more interesting treatment. This left me with the second image: a clean line profile of Satinka, minus her checkerboard design, the "mask," and the mouth extension. The Dacianos are a society who's culture excels in physical modification, so they're always changing themselves, or even breeding new variations. "The Reptile" originally had a very wide mouth, but it's a concept I later dropped. In the third image, I add in her markings(in her particular order of the Gungus- the Dacianos assassins- each member has their own particular designs painted onto their heads). Finally, on a new layer- beneath the black line layer- I add in the color. I didn't go for a photorealistic look, but with some 7 more years of Photoshop experience and the use of the flatscreen Wacom drawing tablet at work, I am able to achieve a much better and smoother effect.

Finally, I add in her eye. Again, the character has been modified since its original conception, where we had these deep, very dark red eyes- making her look more reptilian. Somewhere along the line, I dropped that and gave her these vibrant blue eyes. Additionally, I got rid of the black line that formed her septum, since it was just too strong a line.

Well, that's that. Not sure what you got out of this, but I can rest easier knowing that that horrible first version is no longer on the Forum page(although, it IS still here for all to see). Goodnight.
